The Cabinet has approved an additional emergency reserve budget of 240.75 million baht to supplement the existing compensation funds for residents and personnel along the Thai-Cambodian border.
On 8 Sep 2026 GMT+7, Ms. Lalida Pertwivatana, Deputy Government Spokesperson, revealed that the government approved an increased compensation budget of 240.75 million baht to assist civilians and state officials affected by the Thai-Cambodian border conflict, covering the period from 26 Dec 2025 to 23 Jul 2026, ensuring continuous and fair support.
The Deputy Government Spokesperson also detailed the budget allocation among three responsible agencies: the Ministry of Defense received 166.25 million baht for military personnel support in the area; the Ministry of Interior was allocated 65 million baht to aid affected civilians; and the Royal Thai Police received 9.5 million baht to support border police officers.
Ms. Lalida added that this allocation is an approval of emergency reserve funds, supplementing the previous 577.3 million baht. The National Security Council (NSC) is responsible for data compilation, with directives to the Ministry of Finance, the Budget Bureau, and the National Economic and Social Development Council to jointly verify injury and death reports to prevent duplicate payments.
For cases involving severely injured individuals who later died, the respective agencies are instructed to promptly update and upgrade compensation rights according to the new criteria. The government emphasizes ongoing care for affected civilians and officials. This additional budget aims to ensure all eligible persons receive fair compensation without omission and urges all parties to expedite disbursements to those in need as quickly as possible.
