8 Sep 2026 GMT+7 Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sihasak Puangketkaew revealed this at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs after meeting with Alona Fisher-Kamm, the Israeli Ambassador to Thailand. The meeting focused on monitoring and resolving issues related to the behavior of Israeli tourists and residents in Thailand, especially in key tourist areas such as Phang Nga and Phuket provinces, which have caused significant concern and impacted local cultural traditions.
Sihasak stated that they had a frank discussion about Thai society’s concerns, dividing them into two groups: Israelis conducting business or residing long-term who break laws. He affirmed that Thailand will enforce laws strictly and without discrimination, citing previous deportations of offenders. For example, Israelis and French nationals who engaged in threatening behavior and racial division have already been deported.
Regarding short- and long-term tourists, Sihasak emphasized that Thailand welcomes visitors of all nationalities, but tourism does not grant free license to do anything. All nationalities, including Israelis, must respect Thai lifestyles, values, and regulations, just as Thais respect laws abroad.
"Tourism is important, but it’s not just about revenue. We respect the dignity and honor of Thai people. Bringing money to Thailand does not mean one can do anything they want."
The Thai side proposed timely corrective measures, currently preparing Do’s & Don’ts documents to distribute through embassies, the Israeli consulate in Jerusalem, tour companies, and airlines to inform tourists before departure. The Israeli Ambassador acknowledged the concerns, confirmed they are not complacent, and expressed readiness to strengthen cooperation to prevent impacts on the strong relations between the two countries.
