Cabinet Approves Appointment of Senior Official “Prodparn Samanmit” as New Governor of Sports Authority of Thailand with a 3-Year Term

The Cabinet approved the appointment of senior official Prodparn Samanmit as the new Governor of the Sports Authority of Thailand and transferred Natthaphon to serve as Advisor to the Prime Minister for Permanent Officials.


On 8 September 2026, Ms. Lalida Pertwiwatana, Deputy Spokesperson of the Prime Minister's Office, revealed that the Cabinet resolved to appoint: 1. Expert committee members in the Defence Technology Policy Committee to fill vacancies (Ministry of Defence).

The Ministry of Defence proposed appointing Ms. Arada Fuengthong as an expert committee member (specializing in investment, commerce, or international trade) on the Defence Technology Policy Committee, replacing the previous expert who resigned before the end of the term.

This appointment is effective from 8 September 2026 onward, with the appointee serving the remaining term of the predecessor. The Prime Minister has given his approval.

2. Appointment of a private sector representative as an expert member of the National Elderly Committee under the Elderly Act B.E. 2546 (2003), Section 4 (5). The Ministry of Social Development and Human Security proposed appointing Mr. Somkiat Saengravee as an expert member, replacing Ms. Thida Sripaiporn, who resigned.

This appointment is effective from 8 September 2026 onward.

3. Appointment of other members to the Provincial Electricity Authority Board (Ministry of Interior).

Three members are appointed to replace two members who resigned and to add one new member as follows:

1. Mr. Pongnara Yenying replacing Mr. Chaiwat Juntirapong.

2. Ms. Natthanun Asawalesak replacing Mr. Jets Thonawanik.

3. Ms. Traithip Siwakritkul.

These appointments are effective from 8 September 2026 onward.

4. Transfer of civil servants to appoint as Advisor to the Prime Minister for Permanent Officials.

The transfer of Mr. Natthaphon Rangsitphon, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Industry (Senior Executive), to serve as Advisor to the Prime Minister for Permanent Officials (Senior Executive) at the Secretariat of the Prime Minister, effective from the date of royal approval.

5. Appointment of civil servants to senior executive positions (Ministry of Commerce). The Cabinet approved appointments to senior executive positions to replace retirees and for rotation, totaling nine individuals as follows:

1. Mr. Witthayakon Maneenet, Director-General of the Department of Internal Trade, appointed as Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Office of the Permanent Secretary.

2. Mr. Kittiwat Patchimnan, Inspector General of the Ministry at the Office of the Permanent Secretary, appointed as Director-General of the Department of Business Development.

3. Mr. Warawut Somwangprasert, Inspector General of the Ministry at the Office of the Permanent Secretary, appointed as Director-General of the Department of International Trade Promotion.

4. Ms. Kanitta Kangsuanich, Inspector General of the Ministry at the Office of the Permanent Secretary, appointed as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Permanent Representative of Thailand to the World Trade Organization and World Intellectual Property Organization in Geneva, Office of the Permanent Secretary.

5. Ms. Manasnit Jirawat, Trade Advisor, appointed as Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Office of the Permanent Secretary.

6. Ms. Pimchanok Pitfield, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Permanent Representative of Thailand to the World Trade Organization and World Intellectual Property Organization in Geneva, appointed as Inspector General of the Ministry at the Office of the Permanent Secretary.

7. Ms. Oramon Subtaweetham, Director-General of the Department of Intellectual Property, appointed as Inspector General of the Ministry at the Office of the Permanent Secretary.

8. Mr. Wattanasak Suea-iem, Inspector General of the Ministry at the Office of the Permanent Secretary, appointed as Director-General of the Department of Internal Trade.

9. Ms. Jittima Srithaporn, Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Office of the Permanent Secretary, appointed as Director-General of the Department of Intellectual Property.

These appointments are effective from 1 October 2026, from the date of royal approval onward.

6. Appointment of civil servants to senior executive positions (Ministry of Labour). The Cabinet approved appointing two civil servants from the Ministry of Labour to senior executive positions to replace retirees and fill vacancies.

1. Ms. Kanjana Poolkaew, Secretary-General of the Social Security Office, appointed as Director-General of the Department of Labour Protection and Welfare.

2. Ms. Jirapa Boonrat, Inspector General of the Ministry at the Office of the Permanent Secretary, appointed as Secretary-General of the Social Security Office.

These appointments are effective from 1 October 2026 onward.

7. Appointment of political appointees (Secretariat of the Prime Minister).

The Cabinet approved, as proposed by the Secretariat of the Prime Minister, the appointment of Mr. Ekaphop Piansip as Political Official, Spokesperson of the Prime Minister's Office, effective from 8 September 2026 onward.

8. Appointment of Assistant Minister.

The Cabinet approved, as proposed by the Secretariat of the Prime Minister, the appointment of Ms. Ratchada Thanadirek as Assistant Minister, effective from the date the Prime Minister signs the announcement.

9. Appointment of Governor of the Sports Authority of Thailand (Ministry of Tourism and Sports).

The Cabinet approved, as proposed by the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, the appointment of Ms. Prodparn Samanmit as Governor of the Sports Authority of Thailand, effective from 1 October 2026 to 31 March 2029, according to the resolution of the Sports Authority of Thailand Board.
