Boonlue, the majority commission member, explained the 3 billion baht budget cut for the Pollution Control Department due to the unresolved Klong Dan case, stressing that the decision was made with careful consideration and discreetly.
On 8 Sep 2026 GMT+7, at the Parliament Building, Mr. Boonlue Prasertsopha, Member of Parliament for Ratchaburi from the Bhumjaithai Party (BJT), serving as chairman of the subcommittee on training, seminars, public relations, contract labor, consultancy fees, and work system development under the special committee reviewing the 2027 fiscal year budget bill,
stood up to clarify during the House of Representatives’ session on the second reading of the 2027 budget bill, Article 17 concerning the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment. He explained the reason behind cutting the budget: the committee debated the reduction of 3 billion baht allocated to the Pollution Control Department, originally intended as compensation to a company involved in the Klong Dan landfill case, a protracted legal saga spanning over 20 years. The Pollution Control Department had requested this budget to compensate the opposing party.
Mr. Boonlue said that since the case remains unresolved, with assets still frozen and under investigation by the administrative court, the committee deemed it appropriate to cut this budget and return the funds to the national budget. He affirmed that the subcommittee’s decision was historic in budget deliberations, executed with thoroughness and prudence, and importantly, done discreetly behind the scenes.
