The chairman of the government coalition whip committee confirms the 2570 budget remains within the framework, denying reports of an alliance with the Kla Party and noting that each side performs its duties independently.
On 9 September 2026 at the Parliament, Mr. Karavee Prasnanantakul, MP for Ang Thong from the Bhumjaithai Party and chairman of the government coalition whip committee, spoke about the overall progress of the draft budget act for fiscal year 2570, now in its third day of debate. Although debate has only reached Article 20, he said efforts are being made to control time to finish within the three-day framework agreed (7-9 Sept). He instructed the government whip secretary to emphasize time management from day one and asked both government and opposition to reduce the number of speakers per article, especially for key ministries like Interior, Education, and Public Health, which have many MPs wishing to speak.
Mr. Karavee outlined statistics from the past two days of meetings, each lasting over 15 hours, showing the government side debated for 9 hours 19 minutes, the opposition about 13 and a half hours, and committees around 3 hours. This demonstrates the government has given the opposition ample opportunity to question. Regarding the possibility of extending time to vote on 10 September, he said the situation would be reassessed that afternoon.
Furthermore, the government whip chairman denied accusations that the government was deliberately delaying or manipulating proceedings to avoid reviewing the Election Commission's annual report. He affirmed there was no reason or necessity to do so since most time had been allocated to the opposition, and the agenda for 10 September was already set by the parliamentary speaker's schedule. He also explained that protests during the late session on 8 September arose from comments causing damage, which required clarifications to set the record straight.
Mr. Karavee also addressed the voting stance of the Kla Party, which sometimes aligns with the Bhumjaithai Party, stating Kla has acted as opposition and exercised MPs' privileges by abstaining or disagreeing on certain articles. Each party performs its role independently. When asked if there would be future collaboration, he laughed and firmly said no, there is nothing of that sort.
