Peerapol exposes foreigners' scheme to seize the country, criticizes the Ministry of Interior for concealing millions of names flooding the central household registry, fearing a plan to seize "Pink Cards" as a step toward Thai citizenship.
On 9 Sep 2026 GMT+7, Mr. Peerapol Kanokwalai, a party-list MP from the Economic Party, debated Section 20 of the annual budget bill concerning the Department of Provincial Administration (Clause 3), which addresses the strategic plan to manage migrant labor and human trafficking issues. He highlighted the problem of the massive influx of migrant workers as a national security threat and criticized the allocated budget of only 28,137,000 baht as insufficient to tackle such a national-level problem. He also exposed a scheme of fraudulently inserting foreign names into Thai household registrations, which is rapidly escalating.
Mr. Peerapol revealed a major issue in parliament, stating that the current number of migrant workers, both legal and illegal, has soared to around 10 million. What is especially alarming and severely infringes on citizens' rights is the operation of inserting foreigners' names into ordinary Thai residents' household registration copies without the homeowners' knowledge. Just in Din Daeng District, Bangkok, over 2,000 such cases have surfaced, and estimates suggest that similar cases hidden across Bangkok and nationwide could total 2 to 3 million people.
The Economic Party MP also harshly criticized the Department of Provincial Administration's registration division for sweeping the problem under the rug. When the issue became public, their response was to transfer the foreign names into a "central household registry". He posed a critical question: what is the true number of foreigners registered in this central household registry nationwide, and why is this information not disclosed to the public?
“These foreigners do not care where their names are moved to. Even if they were placed on the moon, they wouldn't mind. They just want their names in the system and to hold an identification card for non-Thai nationals, or the ‘Pink Card,’ which is the first step and ultimate goal to pave the way for fully assuming Thai citizenship in the future,” Mr. Peerapol said. He warned the government and related agencies that this issue has been widely reported for months but then disappeared from public attention. If the government continues to neglect it without urgently collecting clear data on how many people currently hold Pink Cards in Thailand and fails to implement decisive measures to eliminate the problem, it will never be resolved.
“Do not think this is a small matter because if left unchecked long-term, they will take over the country.” Mr. Peerapol concluded.
