Deputy Minister of Interior Je-set visited the Bang Lamung daycare center shooting site, emphasizing that medical staff must deeply address the mental health of victims without neglect and prevent any recurrence.
On 9 Sep 2026 GMT+7, Je-set Thaiset, Deputy Minister of Interior, traveled to the Nong Plalai Municipal Daycare Center in Bang Lamung district, Chonburi province, to follow up on a shooting incident at the center. Initially, one person was confirmed dead. The suspect, believed to be the deceased's husband, is hiding at home, with police currently negotiating for his surrender.
Je-set revealed that upon receiving the report, he immediately called the Chonburi governor to order local administrative authorities, police, and public health officials to promptly coordinate their efforts. He stressed the importance of providing psychological support to students, teachers, and staff present during the incident. He also instructed medical teams and mental health experts to assess and communicate appropriately with children without reinforcing violent images, and to establish ongoing counseling systems for teachers and parents.
Je-set added that the solution must focus primarily on "healing the people" because psychological impacts do not end with the event. Furthermore, the incident highlights the importance of preventing and reducing firearm risks alongside mental health care. The Ministry of Interior will expedite integration among all parties to address risks from the outset. He expressed deep condolences to the deceased's family and assured full assistance and care for all affected.
