Aeknat Orders Two Pipeline Companies to Take Responsibility and Compensate for All Damages

The oil leak point on Rama 3 Road has been found. "Aeknat" ordered the two pipeline-owning companies to take responsibility for repairs and compensate for all damages caused by the incident.

On 9 Sep 2026 GMT+7, Mr. Aeknat Prompan, Minister of Energy, visited the site to inspect the case of oil contamination in Bangkok’s drainage pipeline system near Chuea Phloeng Road, under the Rama 3 elevated road bridge, at the boundary between Khlong Toei and Yan Nawa districts. Excavations confirmed the oil leak point, and he ordered BAF Transport Pipeline Co., Ltd. and Bangkok Pipeline and Logistics Co., Ltd. to urgently take responsibility and carry out repairs.

Furthermore, Mr. Aeknat instructed that the two companies, in addition to fixing the problem and restoring the area to its original condition, must also pay compensation and provide remedies for all damages caused.

He also ordered a thorough inspection of the surrounding area to evaluate the impact and prevent further leaks. Discovering the leak point is a crucial step toward resolving the oil spill issue on Rama 3. The Ministry of Energy will closely monitor the repair and restoration efforts to ensure the companies fully take responsibility for the damages incurred.
