MP Questions Songkhla Labor Skill Development Budget of 16.5 Million Baht Over Equipment Discrepancies

Sahasawat questioned the 16.5 million baht budget for skill development in Songkhla, highlighting that the equipment did not match the quotations and that combustion engine parts were mixed into the EV training kits.

On 9 Sep 2026 GMT+7, at the Parliament during the House of Representatives meeting to consider the 2027 annual expenditure bill, stage 2 entering section 22 for the Ministry of Labor's budget exceeding 68 billion baht, Sahasawat Koomkong, MP for Chonburi from the Prachachon Party, debated to cut the Department of Skill Development's budget, pointing out unclear and inefficient budget planning.

Sahasawat stated that irregularities were found in the Skill Development Institute 12 Songkhla's electric vehicle (EV) training kit project worth 16.5 million baht. The agency's project documents listed equipment that did not match the quotations in eight items, totaling excess value of 501,000 baht. For example, the electric vehicle charger training kit was documented as one set, but the quotation charged for three sets; the charging station tester was documented as one set but charged for two. Identical excess figures appeared in quotations from all four private companies submitted to the subcommittee.

Additionally, suspicions arose because, despite being an EV training project, combustion engine vehicle parts were included. Sahasawat demanded clear answers from Parliament before budget approval, emphasizing that the budget is for the people, not to enrich anyone's pocket.
