The Prime Minister carried out duties as the royal representative to attend the funeral of King Harald V amid a mourning atmosphere, with royals, leaders, and senior international delegates participating in the ceremony.

On 9 September 2026, Ms. Traisulee Traisornkul, Secretary to the Prime Minister, disclosed that His Majesty the King graciously appointed Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, as his royal representative to attend the funeral of King Harald V of Norway. The Prime Minister conducted his duties in Oslo, Kingdom of Norway, as the royal representative with full honor.

The funeral of King Harald V was held on 9 Sep 2026 at 1:00 p.m. local time at Oslo Cathedral. Before the ceremony began, the funeral procession moved from the palace to the cathedral amid a mournful atmosphere, with Norwegian citizens lining the route to pay their final respects to the long-reigning monarch.

Oslo remained peaceful, following several days during which many Norwegians traveled to pay their respects. Royals, national leaders, prime ministers, and senior delegates from many countries attended the ceremony.
