On 10 September 2026 GMT+7, Ms. Ploytale Laksamee Sangchan, Deputy Spokesperson of the Prime Minister's Office, announced the details. The government invites Thai men aged 18 to 26 who are interested in a military career and supporting army operations to apply for conscription as "Volunteer Soldiers" for 2027. Applications are accepted online at http://rcm.rta.mi.th or in person at any of the 221 army units nationwide that are recruiting, as well as at district and provincial recruitment offices. The application period runs from 10 September 2026 to 24 January 2027 GMT+7. The Army is recruiting a total of 18,784 positions, selecting personnel to serve under a new program replacing the former "Online Conscripts" initiative, in line with government and Ministry of Defense policies. Applicants can select their preferred rotation and military unit from 221 units across the country.
Ms. Ploytale explained that "Volunteer Soldiers" are conscripts who voluntarily enter into a four-year contract. They undergo training and serve alongside regular conscripts but receive benefits specific to the program: a starting salary of 12,090 baht per month plus a special allowance of 2,880 baht monthly (intended for food or living expenses). Additionally, those who serve for two years or more gain a special quota allowing up to 80% of the total seats for entrance exams to become Army non-commissioned officer students, within the conscript quota, which accounts for 30% of that quota or 453 positions. They also receive a minimum 5% bonus in academic exam scores for entry into Army civil service positions. This strengthens income security and opens pathways to professional military careers for volunteer soldiers, alongside other benefits such as vocational training and part-time education programs that enable them to earn higher educational qualifications during service.
