Netizens have taken an interest and shared a photo of Prime Minister Anutin wearing Luang Pho Chot's 'Nuea Duang' amulet.
On 10 Sep 2026, Luang Wachirayan (Atichot Dhammavaro), known as Luang Pho Chot, abbot of Wat Phutthaisawan in Samphao Lom Subdistrict, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province, who created the famous 'Nuea Duang' amulet, was arrested by the Central Investigation Police under an arrest warrant. He and a close assistant, known as 'Si Ga,' face charges of official misconduct including embezzlement, dereliction of duty, abuse of power, conspiracy to launder money, and jointly laundering funds, involving the embezzlement of over 92 million baht from the temple, which was transferred to the assistant.
Reporters noted that online, a photo widely shared shows Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul wearing the 'Nuea Duang' amulet. Investigations revealed the photo dates back to when Anutin was Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, wearing the amulet publicly while leading a group of MPs from the Bhumjaithai Party to watch the movie 'Saphero' on 24 Oct 2023.
During an interview about Thai soft power, Anutin displayed the necklace holding the 'Nuea Duang' amulet, explaining that the necklace is a piece of Thai wisdom made from parachute cord and can be adjusted by sliding it up or down.
The amulet Anutin wore is the 2006 gold edition of the Jatukam Ramathep 'Nuea Duang' amulet from Wat Phutthaisawan in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province. This edition, known among amulet collectors as the 'Upgraded Status' model, was created by Luang Pho Atichot to commemorate Wat Phutthaisawan's elevation to a royal temple and is highly popular in the 'Nuea Duang' series.
