Dr. Prap Launches Campaign for Nonthaburi Provincial Governor: Urges Residents Not to Lose Hope

"Dr. Prap" launches campaign for Nonthaburi Provincial Governor, urging "Nonthaburi residents not to lose hope; Nonthaburi can be better," highlighting the ‘MATRIX’ model to solve flooding and waste issues.,

On 10 Sep 2026 GMT+7, reporters covering the final phase of the Nonthaburi Provincial Administrative Organization governor election reported that “Dr. Prap” Tham Phakbaworn, independent candidate number 6, declared his candidacy focusing on driving urban transformation. He challenged Nonthaburi residents with the question, “Can Nonthaburi be better?” to end acceptance of recurring problems such as flooding, overflowing waste, damaged roads, and unaccountable budget usage.

Dr. Prap stated that the city’s biggest problem is not just the issues themselves but the public’s despair, feeling powerless to effect change. Drawing on his experience in waste management, law, parliamentary affairs, and local administration, he observed that the province lacks not projects but coordinated systemic management. Thus, he proposed the “MATRIX Nonthaburi” concept to address six interconnected dimensions, including comprehensive flood management covering upstream water, rainwater, Chao Phraya River water, backflow, canals, sluice gates, pumps, and risk monitoring.

His approach to waste management involves establishing a provincial recycling center and sustainably ending landfill practices. Regarding budget oversight, he promotes the “Track Every Issue, Audit Every Baht” principle, offering Nonthaburi citizens transparent access to monitor budget expenditures.

Dr. Prap concluded his independent candidacy statement by acknowledging the challenge ahead but expressed no fear of losing, comparing himself to a boxer who must face the ring to avoid defeat before starting. He reaffirmed his working stance: “I do not conflict with people, but I do not compromise with corruption. I can cooperate with people but not with wrongdoing.” He hopes Nonthaburi residents will unite to transform their city and refuse to accept old problems as normal.
