The "Energy Alley Team" has continued their mission to find the oil leak for the second day, ordering additional excavations to accelerate the search for the leak. Meanwhile, officials are assessing causes including the pipeline route beneath railway tracks, park renovations, and surrounding construction.
On 10 Sep 2026 GMT+7, Ms. Thitiphat Chotidetchanan, Secretary to the Minister of Energy, visited the site to monitor and inspect the operators' work near the drainage pipes at Chuea Phloeng Road and under the Rama 3 Bridge, following up on progress to locate the oil leak source. This was the second consecutive day of on-site monitoring, coordinating with operators to urgently excavate additional soil to find the leak source and promptly carry out repairs.
During additional soil excavation today, officials found water mixed with oil coming from an old drainage pipe. They therefore ordered further drilling in nearby areas simultaneously to trace the oil's origin, which may still be leaking. They have also mobilized full manpower, machinery, and relevant technology to support the operation, aiming to detect any additional leaks as quickly as possible.
Regarding the cause of this leak, officials assess it may stem from multiple factors affecting the pipeline structure, including the oil pipeline route beneath railway tracks, possible impacts from nearby park renovations, or connections to other construction activities in the surrounding area.
Ms. Thitiphat stated that the Minister of Energy, Mr. Aeknath Promphan, is highly concerned about this incident and has ordered continuous on-site monitoring. He has also coordinated with operators to expedite inspection and resolution efforts as quickly as possible, requiring 24-hour operations. Additionally, comprehensive safety systems must be in place throughout the inspection process.
