The government guarantees that on Sunday, 27 September 2026, the Social Security Board election will proceed without delay, postponement, or obstruction, expanding polling stations to 5,000 units down to the district level to serve over 5 million voters.
On 11 September 2026, Major Patdarasmi Thongsaluaykorn, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, addressed concerns from insured persons regarding the organization of the Social Security Committee (Social Security Board) election. She reported that recently Mr. Julaphan Amornwiwat, Minister of Labor, firmly confirmed that the Social Security Board election will definitely be held as scheduled on Sunday, 27 September 2026. There will be no processes to delay, postpone, or obstruct the election in any way.
Regarding the Administrative Court's order to revoke the postponement announcement of the Social Security Board election and to proceed with the election as originally planned, though an appeal against this order has been filed, this is a normal legal procedure submitted earlier to ensure thoroughness and legal rigor only, not an attempt to cancel the election.
As for the election's progress, many employers and insured persons have registered to vote, with an expected turnout around 50% or approximately 5 million people. Therefore, the Ministry of Labor has prepared to expand polling units from the provincial down to the district level, increasing from over 2,000 units to more than 5,000 units. They are also expediting the preparation of a manual for distinguishing valid and invalid ballots, along with a system to prevent duplicate voting, to facilitate smooth and rapid voting.
In conclusion, the Deputy Government Spokesperson emphasized that the government is proactively working to protect the rights and benefits of all insured persons and invites employers and insured persons to exercise their voting rights in the Social Security Board election on Sunday, 27 September 2026, from 08:00 to 16:00, as this election is a chance to participate in directing the management of the fund and benefits for insured persons in the future.
