
The King has issued a royal command appointing the new committee of the Volunteer Foundation for Relief in Distress, with the Queen as the honorary chair and Her Royal Highness Princess Somsawali as lifelong honorary president.
On 11 September 2026, the Royal Gazette website published the announcement.The royal command announces the appointment of the committee of the Volunteer Foundation for Relief in Distress under the Thai Red Cross Society.It states that His Majesty King Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun has graciously issued a royal command to proclaim the following.
The Volunteer Foundation for Relief in Distress under the Thai Red Cross Society was established with the purpose of supporting and connecting the government, private sector, and communities to mutually assist each other during floods and disasters. It aims to pool knowledge, innovation, manpower, funds, and public spirit in the form of volunteer service to help, restore, and develop sustainable livelihoods and quality of life. Additionally, it encourages the public to help one another in times of hardship, focusing on survival and psychological recovery, operating under the principles of “Sharing, Sufficiency, Sustainability.”
By virtue of Clause 11 of the foundation's regulations, His Majesty has graciously appointed the new committee of the Volunteer Foundation for Relief in Distress under the Thai Red Cross Society as follows.
