On 11 Sep 2026 GMT+7, Mr. Julpan Amornwiwat, Minister of Labor, welcomed the network pushing labor protection laws on female workers' maternity rights, along with informal workers, platform workers, and formal workers who visited to offer support and thanks for progressing important labor policies and laws.
Representatives of the labor network expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Labor for advancing progress on five main points: integrating three occupational groups—domestic workers, agricultural workers, and street vendors—into Social Security under Section 33; establishing a working group to implement International Labour Organization (ILO) Conventions Nos. 183 on maternity protection and 189 on decent work for domestic workers; pushing the Employee Assistance Fund, which will be enforced from 1 Oct 2026; promoting amendments to labor protection laws regarding maternity rights and leave days; and reforming Social Security law now under consideration by the House of Representatives.
Mr. Julpan thanked the labor network for their supportive visit, affirming the Ministry of Labor's commitment to equally listening to all worker groups. He emphasized using their proposals and real issues to formulate policies and develop laws aligned with today's changing work patterns, aiming to expand protection and access to benefits more broadly. The Ministry will continue collaborating with labor networks, employers, employees, and related agencies to push measures and laws into tangible results, striving to ensure all workers receive proper rights, protection, and fair social security.
