Senate Smoothly Approves 2027 Budget PM Anutin Expresses Thanks, Ensures Transparent Oversight

The Senate meeting voted to approve the 2027 budget with 145 votes in favor and 5 against. Prime Minister Anutin expressed thanks, stating he came intentionally to listen and confirmed close oversight to ensure budget spending is transparent, effective, and verifiable.


At 15:30 on 11 September 2026, after the Senate (S) debated for more than five hours, Senators voted to approve the draft Budget Expenditure Act for fiscal year 2027 with 145 votes in favor, 5 against, and 12 abstentions.

, Then Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul stood up to speak, saying he had just returned from Norway that morning. During the House of Representatives' consideration of the 2027 budget, he was on foreign duty. He expressed regret at not being able to attend the hearings and said he came today intentionally to listen. He personally thanked all senators for approving the 2027 budget and affirmed he would take their comments into account for improvements to ensure the public fully benefits from the budget.

He added, "I assure you that the policies, measures, and budget that have been approved will be used according to their objectives and planned projects. As the government, we will closely supervise to ensure budget spending is transparent, effective, achieves its goals, and is auditable as per established policies. This is essential to drive Thailand forward amid rapidly changing current circumstances."
