He appeals to hotels not to exploit the opportunity by raising prices, emphasizing that Anutin will not allow exploitation among Thai people.
On 12 September 2026, Mr. Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana, party-list MP of the Bhumjaithai Party and former Minister of Industry, spoke about the possibility of the government launching 'Thai Chuay Thai Plus Phase 2.' He said relevant agencies are currently considering its appropriateness, including the economic situation and project feedback. The first phase of 'Thai Chuay Thai Plus' was very successful. Wherever he visited, locals asked him to convey messages to Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul to extend the program until global economic conditions stabilize, allowing people to better manage rising living costs. Importantly, the government has clarified that funds remain from the 200 billion baht loan decree already used, so he believes the project can be extended by at least one to two months.
Thanakorn added that besides the well-received 'Thai Chuay Thai Plus,' the government is preparing to promote the successful 'Thai Tiew Thai Plus' project, which has been ongoing since the government of General Prayut Chan-o-cha. This aims to boost the economy toward the end of 2026 by encouraging domestic travel so money circulates primarily within Thailand. Each entitlement will support accommodation costs reimbursed up to 2,000 baht; any excess must be paid by travelers, or if less, reimbursement will be based on actual cost. The program is expected to start around November 2026 and is believed to definitely stimulate domestic economic circulation.
“When the government introduces measures to assist the people, I want to ask for cooperation, especially from business operators, not to take advantage by raising accommodation prices, as this would mean exploiting fellow Thais during a time when the country needs unity to overcome the economic crisis. The Prime Minister will never allow those who exploit fellow Thais to get away with it. Such operators will be blacklisted, barred from participating in the program, and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” Thanakorn said.
