On 12 September 2026, Air Force Lieutenant Thanadet Pengsuk, a Bangkok MP from the People’s Party, issued a statement clarifying facts regarding concerns over his vote on the 2570 annual budget bill in the third reading. This followed news reports questioning his political stance and rumors alleging he previously voted in favor of the government during subcommittee deliberations.
Thanadet revealed that the matter directly affected his credibility and political stance, making it necessary to clarify the voting process and facts on the third reading day. This process had two steps: registering presence and casting the vote. On 10 September, he was present in the parliamentary chamber, registered his presence, and clearly voted 'no' on the budget bill as per the People’s Party directive.
However, the subsequent vote recording system data showed his name as present but without a recorded vote. He believes this was a technical fault in the vote recording system. He has already reported and clarified these facts to the People’s Party. Furthermore, during the second reading of every clause of the budget bill, he consistently voted 'no,' so there was no reason or factor that would cause him to change his stance or abstain from voting in the final reading.
Regarding rumors that he had supported the government side during budget subcommittee deliberations, Thanadet firmly denied these claims as untrue and expressed readiness to disclose all meeting records for verification immediately.
Thanadet disclosed that he personally called and explained the facts to Ajarn Veera Theeraphatranon, the host of the program 'Talk to Think,' who first raised the issue. The host acknowledged the facts and is preparing to correct the news information accordingly. Thanadet reaffirmed that he will not switch parties, change his political stance, nor engage in any political benefit negotiations.
Thanadet stated that he has been entrusted by the people to serve under the party and ideology he chose, thus he values this trust more than political positions. If one day he cannot uphold the ideology the people elected him for, he will return his position to the people rather than trade their trust for political realignment.
"For me, this is a matter of honor, dignity, and responsibility to the people, and I will uphold it," Thanadet said.
