At 14:55 on 12 September 2026, at the Bhumjaithai Party office, Supachai Jaichumot, party-list MP and legal affairs officer, responded to Abhisit Vejjajiva, leader of the Democrat Party, who demanded the Election Commission (EC) send the Senate election collusion case to court on Monday, 14 September, without discretion. Supachai said Abhisit's view that the EC must send the case to court if there is reason to believe a violation occurred is his personal opinion. The Constitution's Article 226 clearly states that if there is reason to believe wrongdoing occurred, the EC must send the case to court; however, the EC also has authority to rule that if there is no credible reason to believe wrongdoing happened, it may dismiss the complaint and not forward it. Abhisit only tells half the story. The EC is not a postman but must adjudicate all such matters in every case, as it has done consistently. No matter the pressure applied today, respect must be given to the independent constitutional body with its granted powers. Therefore, political parties should present both sides of the truth and not distort facts to suit their desires. He affirmed that the Bhumjaithai Party does not protect anyone involved in this matter.
When asked about his previous remark that the 14 September case would be shocking, Supachai said the shock depends on who experiences it. He believes there will indeed be shocks but prefers not to elaborate. He noted that from his observations up to now, people have been periodically shocked by various developments. He urged calm, as the causes of these shocks remain unclear.
