At 17:15 on 12 September 2026 at the Bhumjaithai Party headquarters, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Chanvirakul commented on Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt’s order requiring all BMA agencies to disclose public information to citizens based on the principle of “Open by Default,” and whether this would be adopted by other government ministries.
The Prime Minister said the law already exists. He has not yet seen the order but learned from this morning’s news that it concerns the BMA. However, in fact, there is already a law governing state information. He has been urging all agencies not to seek exceptions or loopholes. If we act transparently and with honest intent, there is no need to conceal anything. For his part, he has no problem disclosing everything and providing any requested information.
When asked if this principle would be applied to the government, Anutin said it already is. Anyone refusing to disclose risks legal action, which is their own responsibility. We cannot force everything, but agency leaders must carefully observe the law.
