The government is advancing Thai games to the global market, generating business negotiations valued over 270 million baht, and building on gamescom asia × Thailand Game Show 2026 to establish Thailand as the ASEAN gaming center.
On 13 September 2026, Ms. Lalida Pertwiwatthana, Deputy Spokesperson of the Prime Minister’s Office, revealed that the government is actively promoting Thailand’s gaming industry, a part of the creative economy with strong potential to expand internationally. The focus is on creating trade opportunities by connecting Thai entrepreneurs with global partners, investors, and allies. This effort builds on international success toward hosting gamescom asia × Thailand Game Show 2026 from 29 October to 1 November 2026 in Thailand, aiming to position the country as a key gaming industry hub in Southeast Asia.
Recently, the Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) under the Ministry of Commerce took 15 Thai gaming business operators to participate in gamescom 2026 in Cologne, Germany, from 26–30 August 2026 for the second consecutive year. The goal was to launch Thai game products to overseas markets, demonstrate the capability of Thai entrepreneurs, and create trade opportunities in European and global markets.
As a result of participating, Thai entrepreneurs generated a total trade negotiation value of 270,369,990 baht, approximately 8.19 million U.S. dollars. This included immediate value of 40,590 baht and an expected value within one year of 270,329,400 baht. They met 994 target partners, of which 673 were new contacts, or 67.71 percent, reflecting the potential of Thai game entrepreneurs and concrete opportunities to expand into international markets.
The Deputy Spokesperson of the Prime Minister’s Office stated that the success of these business negotiations reflects Thai game entrepreneurs’ ability to develop products suited to the global market. Therefore, the government will build on these international opportunities by organizing gamescom asia × Thailand Game Show 2026, which will serve as a key platform to connect entrepreneurs, investors, and stakeholders in the gaming industry from Thailand and abroad, increasing business, investment, and market expansion opportunities in the region.
“The government aims to create opportunities for Thai game entrepreneurs to access global markets. Following business negotiations valued over 270 million baht and more than 670 new partners, the government will continue to expand trade opportunities and alliances from the international stage, pushing the Thai gaming industry to be competitive and become one of Southeast Asia’s gaming industry hubs,” said Ms. Lalida.
