The leader of the People’s Party joined a march with iLaw to call on the Election Commission (EC) to issue prosecution orders against all 229 senators involved in the collusion case tomorrow, insisting this is not intended as pressure but to encourage the EC to act with transparency and integrity.
On 13 Sep 2026 GMT+7, Mr. Nattapong Ruangpanyawut, leader of the People’s Party, together with Mr. Parit Watcharasindhu, a party-list MP from the People’s Party, joined a civil society event organized by the Internet Law Reform Dialogue (iLaw) to urge the Election Commission (EC) to prosecute all 229 accused individuals in the Senate election collusion and corruption case and to refer the matter to the Supreme Court for a final decision before the EC’s crucial upcoming vote.
Mr. Nattapong said he joined as an ordinary citizen like everyone else. Today, people must raise their voices as loudly as possible because this case may be one of the largest frauds in Thai political history. We cannot remain silent or let no one be held accountable. This demonstration is an exercise of constitutional rights, not pressure, but a call for the EC to perform its duties transparently. The evidence publicly available shows reasonable grounds to believe fraud and unfair Senate elections occurred.
. . .. . .Asked whether the actions by iLaw and the movement led by Mr. Sondhi Limthongkul might pressure or destabilize the government’s administration, Mr. Nattapong said the key issue now is a system of checks and balances that is disconnected from the people. He questioned the EC’s origins, noting it is formed by senators, who themselves are elected through a process under scrutiny by society. Regarding whether these calls will destabilize the government, he countered that the government itself must clarify whether it is involved with these processes. Importantly, only the courts have the authority to rule on this matter, not the EC. Therefore, before the EC’s decision, the public must raise their voices to demand the EC act with integrity and support the commissioners to fulfill their duties correctly.
Today’s route started at Lat Phrao Intersection, moving along Phahonyothin Road, following the BTS Skytrain line, passing Saphan Khwai where the group paused for half an hour, then proceeded past Victory Monument, turning onto Rangnam–Pratunam Road, then Rama I Road, passing the Royal Thai Police Headquarters, continuing along Rama I through Siam area, and concluding at the plaza in front of the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre (BACC) at Pathumwan Intersection for a large gathering around 16:00.
