Chor Panika joined Pattani students in a run demanding prosecution of senators and stopped by the new Election Commission building, warning that if blatant corruption is allowed, shameless fraud will likely spread across all sectors.
At 6:30 a.m. on 13 September 2026, Ms. Panika Wanich, executive committee member of the Progressive Movement, together with Romadon Panjor, MP from the People's Party, joined Pattani Ramkhamhaeng University students and the general public in a 5-kilometer run to campaign for the Election Commission to prosecute 229 senators accused of corruption. Participants collectively placed stickers reading “Prosecute 229.”
The run began at the back plaza of Pattani Ramkhamhaeng University, passed Charoen Pradit Road and the clock tower roundabout, stopped for a check-in at the new Election Commission office, then proceeded along Makrut and Pipit roads to the central Pattani mosque for a second check-in, finishing at Nai Uboy coffee shop. A panel discussion was held about the significance of the senator corruption case that the Election Commission will vote on 14 September.
One panelist noted that in Pattani there are two senators, but they do not truly represent Pattani people. One had served in Satun province, and the other was a former Pattani Ramkhamhaeng University administrator, yet neither has been a genuine voice for local residents.
Ms. Panika added that many think the senator corruption case is distant from them, but she urged people to consider that if those who break the law with full evidence can evade justice, it means the country lacks fairness. The poor must live under the law, while the rich and powerful can do as they please.
“If we allow blatant corruption to occur without opposition, such shameless fraud will spread to all sectors. We already see it in many areas, like cheating on local exams and the oil embezzlement scandal, where the main culprits have never faced justice. On 14 September, the public must watch closely to prevent shameless corruption from dominating the country and to stop a brazen regime from taking over,” Ms. Panika said.
