Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Denies Cambodian Media Distortion, Affirms Myanmar Supports Thailands Peaceful Border Resolution

The spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs refuted Cambodian media distortions, affirming that Myanmar supports Thailand in resolving border issues peacefully, and pointed out that Cambodian actions do not foster a constructive atmosphere for resolving international problems.

On 13 Sep 2026 GMT+7, the Department of Information of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs clarified the case of Cambodian media reporting on a statement by the Cambodian Senate spokesperson, who claimed that Myanmar's president fully supported Cambodia's stance in resolving the border dispute with Thailand during a recent visit to Cambodia.

Ms. Jaitai Upakarnitikesorn, Director-General of the Department of Information and spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that all parties should consider this matter based on facts. On the night of 12 September 2026 GMT+7, Myanmar's presidential spokesperson clearly explained that the Myanmar president emphasized that the best way to resolve the border issue is through peaceful means, prioritizing negotiations to find a mutual solution. They also called on Cambodia to address the problem peacefully, keeping the overall regional interests foremost.

The Foreign Ministry spokesperson added that this incident exemplifies Cambodia’s tendency to distort information for its own benefit, and such actions do not contribute positively to creating an environment conducive to sustainable resolution of international issues.
