Wattana Changlao campaigns for Khon Kaen Provincial Governor by promoting a policy to develop senior influencers, enabling elderly people to create content and generate income through a Senior University program, while also teaching protection against call center scams.
On 13 Sep 2026 GMT+7, Wattana Changlao, candidate number 1 for Khon Kaen Provincial Administrative Organization Governor, accompanied by Thanik Masipitak, Member of Parliament for Khon Kaen from the Kla Party, and Ms. Kulniti Baichannya, Khon Kaen Provincial Administrative Organization council member and campaign assistant, visited Manjakiri District. They held the event “Tum Home 60 Still Strong, Elderly Not Frail” to meet, greet, and exchange views with hundreds of local residents and elderly people in a warm, friendly atmosphere filled with smiles.
Local elderly groups conducted a traditional blessing ceremony and tied wristbands to encourage election success. They discussed senior issues such as promoting occupations so people over 60 who remain healthy but idle at home can gain new skills, calling on the provincial organization to support modern skills training, emergency medical systems linking hospitals, considering building an elderly care home, and converting 30 rai of land into a new tourist attraction using IT technology to generate community income.
Wattana emphasized his sincere commitment to improving Khon Kaen elderly quality of life, ensuring happiness, physical and mental health, and social value. He introduced the concept of a “Senior University” project, now allowed by the government for local implementation, alongside elderly centers in subdistrict administrative organizations. These will be learning spaces teaching new skills under the modern senior motto “Old but lively.” Courses include cooking, health care, cybercrime prevention, and training seniors as content creators to earn income via smartphones on online platforms from home or farms. He also proposed the “One District, One Influencer” policy to showcase local wisdom and tourist spots from all 26 districts of Khon Kaen to outsiders.
“When we use social media, it can create a career for ourselves. Whether working on farms, cooking, weaving silk, we can earn money. Some things we do daily might seem uninteresting to us, but others don’t know and find them fascinating, which can be turned into content. This is a way to create careers for our elderly community,” Wattana said.
He also focused on health promotion through accessible and enjoyable senior sports competitions such as petanque, can-kicking, senior futsal, and aerobics, enabling elders to exercise, enjoy laughter, and strengthen community bonds — essential for good mental health and daily vitality.
Wattana acknowledged that all suggestions from senior community leaders are highly beneficial and relevant. He is ready to incorporate these voices into the Khon Kaen Provincial Administrative Organization’s plans to enhance elderly centers, establish 24-hour health care systems, promote income-generating occupations, and consider elderly housing projects. He affirmed that the happiness and quality of life of all elders are central to Khon Kaen’s development, pledging to implement these senior policies effectively to make Khon Kaen a livable city accommodating all age groups.
