The Election Commission has begun voting on the collusion case involving 229 senators, with anticipation over decisions on seven charges. Police deployed 200 officers to secure the office ahead of the 3 PM announcement.
At 10:00 AM on 14 Sep 2026 GMT+7, at the Election Commission office, all seven commissioners began voting on the collusion case involving 229 senators. Police from Metropolitan Police Division 2 and Thung Song Hong Police Station deployed 200 officers to maintain order around the office. The media and observers were restricted from the second floor, the site of the 3 PM news conference, which was open only to registered media. Observers and the public could watch the announcement via CCTV screens outside the office or on the ECT Thailand YouTube page.
Meanwhile, a group of reserve senators submitted a letter urging careful consideration of the Senate selection fraud case. Additionally, Pattharapong Supakson, known as Lawyer Aun Buriram, attended to monitor the Commission’s proceedings and led a symbolic protest dressed as ghosts, mocking Election Commission Secretary-General Saowang Boonmee by calling him “Mr. Saowang No More Blessings.”
According to reporters, during today's voting, each commissioner will submit a private ballot to the meeting for the meeting secretariat to tally and announce results. The votes cover seven charges under the Senate Selection Act, including:
1. Political party executives, party officials, MPs, local council members, local executives, or political officeholders assisting candidates to be elected as senators, under Section 76, Paragraph 1.
2. Candidates consenting to assistance from politicians or party officials to be elected as senators, under Section 76, Paragraph 2.
3. Candidates failing to comply with procedures or conditions set by the Election Commission for candidate introductions, under Sections 36 and 70.
4. Arranging, offering, promising, or preparing to provide property or other benefits to induce votes, under Section 77 (1).
5. Hosting or agreeing to host events to induce candidates or voters, under Section 77 (3).
6. Demanding, receiving, or agreeing to receive property or benefits related to candidacy, under Section 79.
7. Voters demanding, receiving, or agreeing to receive property or benefits to vote for or against any candidate, under Section 81.
The 229 accused include 138 current senators, 21 ministers, MPs, and Bhumjaithai Party executives, 20 individuals linked to the Bhumjaithai Party network, as well as reserve senators and other senate candidates totaling 50 people.
