Worasit revealed he has already talked with his father after Kokiat was named in the Senate election collusion indictment. He is not stressed and is ready to prove the facts, stressing that at the Bhumjaithai Party executive committee meeting, there was no discussion about the Senate election.
On 15 Sep 2026 GMT+7 at the Government House, Worasit Liangprasert, Deputy Minister of Interior, spoke about the Election Commission’s decision to indict 77 accused individuals in the Senate election collusion case, including Somkiat Liangprasert, his father. When asked about his next steps, he said, "We spoke yesterday. We respect the Election Commission’s view, and if they see it that way, we are ready to prove the facts through the proper process."
When asked if he had discussed with Somkiat how to proceed legally, Worasit said, "We have our facts to explain because we are confident we did not engage in such actions. My father is aware of the situation and is not stressed, as he is confident and ready to clarify the facts."
Worasit added that he does not intend to file counterclaims against anyone, as there are established rules and regulations. He said, "We have always followed the same rules and must respect them. Those accused must proceed to prove themselves in the process."
Regarding attempts to link him to the case, Worasit said, "You should ask what I have done. The only connection is that we are father and son. But if you ask whether I did anything, the answer is no. We must consider all facts carefully."
When asked about iLaw’s evidence alleging discussions of a Senate collusion plan during a Bhumjaithai Party executive meeting, Worasit replied, "Was he present at the meeting?"
The reporter said the claim is based on witness testimony by Ekkarat Changlao. Worasit responded, "If I recall correctly, Ekkarat has already retracted his testimony. Whether he did or not, I do not know. But in fact, there has never been any discussion of Senate collusion at the party’s executive meetings."
Asked if evidence submitted by the Election Commission to the Supreme Court’s Election Case Division could be countered, Worasit said, "I need to review the details first to understand the Commission’s perspective. But in practice, we are confident we can provide explanations."
