Deputy Minister Worasit has ordered the Surat Thani governor and Koh Phangan district chief to investigate a childcare center after a popular page revealed it had been ordered closed but reopened under a new name, emphasizing that everything must be based on facts and law.
15 Sep 2026 GMT+7 Deputy Minister Worasit Liangprasit of the Ministry of Interior commented on the case where the page "Sueduean" published information raising concerns about a childcare center on Koh Phangan island in Surat Thani province. It was claimed that the center had previously been inspected by officials and ordered closed due to licensing issues but later resumed operations under a new name. He instructed the Surat Thani governor and Koh Phangan district chief to immediately conduct an on-site investigation to verify the facts. The investigation should cover the current status of the facility, related licenses, licensees, operators, and whether operations comply with laws and conditions.
"This is still information raised by social media, so we should not rush to judge who is right or wrong. However, when doubts arise, the administrative authorities must investigate thoroughly and not leave the public with unanswered questions."
Deputy Minister Worasit added that if the investigation finds that operations remain non-compliant with the law, the province and district must immediately act within their authority. Conversely, if proper licenses are held and operations are lawful, the facts must be clearly communicated to prevent misunderstandings or unfounded accusations against the operators.
He also stressed the importance of examining how the name change affects the original license, whether there has been a change in operator or rights holder, and whether the reopening has received full authorization, including reviewing previous inspections or orders related to the case.
"I do not want this to end with just ‘changed name and reopened.’ We must clarify under what license it reopened, who is responsible, and whether legal requirements have been fully met. If correct, we must confirm it; if not, action must be taken without leniency."
Furthermore, Deputy Minister Worasit emphasized that overseeing places related to children requires special attention, not only regarding licenses but also child safety, welfare, and parental trust. He instructed the provincial governor and district chief to report the investigation results promptly with facts and legal guidance.
"When the public has doubts, we must present the facts clearly, not leave questions lingering on social media. Investigate thoroughly, report quickly, and close any loopholes found."
