Bangkok Council Launches Individual Voting Records, Peoples Party Councillors Succeed in Enhancing Transparency

The Bangkok Metropolitan Council has officially launched the disclosure of individual voting results, a success driven by People's Party councillors to enhance transparency and accountability.

On 15 September 2026 GMT+7, during a Bangkok Metropolitan Council meeting, Ms. Patraporn Kengrungreungchai, the council president, informed the assembly of the start of publishing individual voting results of all council members in every voting agenda. This aims to allow citizens close access to information and oversight of local legislative work. The public can immediately view voting outcomes through live meeting broadcasts, official notices posted outside the council chamber, and the council's official Facebook page.

This historic transparency upgrade stems from People's Party councillors jointly pushing a draft of council meeting regulations on 31 July, which mandates live broadcasting of council meetings, including all committee and subcommittee sessions, along with public disclosure of voting results. These regulations have recently been published in the Government Gazette and are now effective. Therefore, today's meeting marks the first day setting a new local political standard to enhance public participation and transparency, enabling citizens to genuinely monitor their councillors in each area.
