On 15 Sep 2026 GMT+7, Wiwan Kraipisitkul, a senator, gave an interview clarifying his position after being named among 26 senators whom the Election Commission decided to send to the Supreme Court over corruption and collusion in Senate elections. He affirmed his innocence, stating he was not involved in the alleged process at all. He explained that the inquiry subcommittee no. 26 tried to link his financial transactions to those of Wichian Chaisathaporn, former Lamphun senator and his younger brother, who was removed from office for false qualifications. Wiwan insisted he had no involvement in his brother's actions. Furthermore, the allegations were based solely on the testimony of a single witness named "Athon," who claimed that Wiwan and his brother paid money to allocate to other Senate candidates for lobbying votes.
Wiwan expressed frustration, saying that the Election Commission never once summoned him to clarify the facts but instead accepted the unsubstantiated accusation of a single witness. Moreover, he felt disheartened by the excessively harsh political conflicts that make "it hard for good people to live in this country." Throughout his tenure as chairman of the Senate Commerce and Services Committee, he devoted himself to working for the nation, especially addressing cross-border nominee issues, yet he was unjustly attacked. Nevertheless, he is prepared to fight the case and explain the financial transactions in the Supreme Court, confident that the court will deliver justice.
