On 15 Sep 2026 GMT+7, Supachai Sutthumpan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce, along with Wuttikrai Leewirapant, Permanent Secretary of Commerce, formally introduced Poonphong Nainapakorn, Director-General of the Department of Business Development and incoming Permanent Secretary of Commerce, to the government house press. She addressed a recent post explaining the transfer of C10-level civil servants, stating it was intended to clarify principles and reasons for officials and supporters, not to seek support. She said those who criticize with fixed opinions are not worth explaining to. She confirmed that appointments are at the Permanent Secretary’s discretion, while her role is to inquire and support based on suitability.
Supachai emphasized that society should not undervalue the ministry inspector position, which is a C10-level executive role vital for on-site verification of government policy implementation. She noted it is part of the normal rotation system within the civil service and not a demotion.
Regarding criticism from former ministers and Permanent Secretaries, she declined to dwell on past issues, urging everyone to focus on the future since today’s trade conflicts and economic crises are different and require new approaches. She also denied rumors that she prefers working with men over women, affirming that ability is measured regardless of gender. Meanwhile, Wuttikrai, who is retiring soon, briefly mentioned that his future political and advisory roles are still under consideration.
