On 15 Sep 2026 GMT+7, Mr. Akkaranan Kankittinan, Deputy Minister of Education, announced after chairing the first 2026 meeting of the Ministry's Committee for Rights, Freedom, and Safety Protection that the Ministry has shifted from a reactive to a proactive approach to safeguard the rights, freedom, and safety of students, teachers, and education staff nationwide. This aims to prevent misconduct from being swept under the rug or resolved internally to protect reputations. All schools are mandated to display signs and QR codes for the Traffy Fondue app, allowing immediate incident reporting. The system covers six key safety areas, including rights protection, bullying, and all forms of threats, with continuous oversight by administrators and related ministries.
Mr. Akkaranan emphasized measures protecting complainants from retaliation, stating that if a school director or education area chief refuses to address or conceals a case, they will face KPI assessments and immediate disciplinary action. He also directed the Teachers' Council and the Teachers Civil Service and Educational Personnel Commission to urgently overhaul disciplinary penalties, as current regulations date back to 1999 and are outdated for today's context. He affirmed the Ministry's commitment to seriously support and provide safe spaces for all teachers and students.
