At 08:30 on 17 September 2026, Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, chaired a meeting to advance key missions of the Ministry of Interior. Attendees included Deputy Ministers Polpee Suwanchawee, Jeset Thaiseth, and Worasit Liangprasit; Permanent Secretary Arsit Sampantharat; Prime Minister’s Secretary-General Traisulee Traisornkul; Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt; Ministerial Advisor Sakda Wichiansin; Ministerial Secretary Chaiwat Juntirapong; senior ministry executives; inspectors; department heads; state enterprise officials under the Ministry; Bangkok officials; and other relevant staff. The meeting took place in the Rajasi Meeting Room, 2nd floor, Ministry of Interior Building. Governors of 76 provinces, district chiefs, and regional agency heads joined via video conference.
Anutin said it has been three years since he assumed the position of Minister of Interior, working closely with everyone. He praised the efforts of all staff, from deputy ministers to all ministry officials and the Governor of Bangkok. In the final quarter of 2026, important responsibilities fall to the Ministry of Interior, and he emphasized that executives, agency heads, and all provincial governors must work together to achieve effective results.
He stressed the importance of preparing for the Royal Cremation Ceremony of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother, scheduled for mid-December 2026. The Ministry of Interior has been assigned as the main agency organizing the public sandalwood flower offering ceremonies in all regional areas. "This must be conducted with utmost orderliness and dignity." The preparations also include merit-making ceremonies and the royal cremation of Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendira Thepwarawadi, Princess Royal. Provincial governors must prioritize this, ensuring thorough planning, rehearsals, and efficient budget use. They must fully facilitate the public at both provincial and district levels and develop detailed contingency plans.
