The Legal Committee summoned Chaiyachon and Worasit to explain the 40 million baht gambling bribe. Rom warned that false statements would have legal consequences.
On 17 Sep 2026 GMT+7, during a meeting of the House of Representatives' Committee on Law, Justice, and Human Rights, chaired by Rangsiman Rom, list MP from the Prachachon Party, the committee considered summoning Chaiyachon Chidchob, Minister of Digital Economy and Society (DE), and Worasit Liangprasit, Deputy Minister of Interior, to explain allegations of a 40 million baht monthly bribe linked to the crackdown on online gambling websites.
Rangsiman stated that initially Chaiyachon sent a letter requesting to send the permanent secretary as a substitute due to foreign obligations, marking the sixth invitation. Meanwhile, Worasit delayed arranging his attendance. The committee seeks to verify whether the allegations are true or merely rumors within the parliament. If the information is false, there will definitely be legal repercussions.
However, at 11:00 a.m., Worasit personally arrived to clarify the matter before the committee and informed them that Chaiyachon was en route. Then at 11:30 a.m., Chaiyachon arrived to join the explanation before the committee meeting.
Rangsiman also referred to the U.S. House Foreign Affairs Committee's letter proposing sanctions against 28 individuals linked to scammer networks and human trafficking, including Woraphak Thanyawong, former Deputy Minister of Finance under the Anutin 1 government. He noted this seriously damages the credibility of the Thai government and questioned why the related legal cases have stalled. He also mentioned Hun To, grandson of Hun Sen, who is on the sanctions list but has not yet been issued an arrest warrant. He urged the government to review case files, track financial flows, seize assets, and investigate those connected to BIC Bank and the implicated oil companies without leaving the matter unresolved.
