On 18 September 2026, reporters at the Parliament reported that the Senate Office had organized a traveling media meeting project from 18 to 20 September 2026 in Trat Province. Before the event, it was reported that 17 senators, led by General Kriangkrai Srirak, the First Deputy President of the Senate, would participate. However, they later canceled their participation, citing official duties.
Meanwhile, prior to this, the Senate Secretariat had received confirmation from Senator Daeng Kongma, serving as Vice Chair of the Senate's Political Development Committee, that she would join the event. But after news on 17 September that the Supreme Court accepted a petition from Mr. Akarawat Phongthanachalitkul, a member of the Reserve Senators group, under Section 44 of the Senate Membership Act B.E. 2561 (2018), complaining about Daeng Kongma and Somphan Palasak, senators from Amnat Charoen Province, alleging they lacked qualifications due to registering under incorrect occupational groups, the Supreme Court accepted the petition for consideration and scheduled a hearing.
Recently, Daeng Kongma informed the Senate Secretariat on 17 September, just one day before the trip, that she was canceling her participation. When reporters called Daeng Kongma about her legal strategy after the Supreme Court accepted the petition, she briefly said she was busy and then hung up. Similarly, Somphan Palasak said on the phone that he was driving before ending the call.
The traveling media meeting project includes site visits to monitor the progress of construction projects such as the Khlong Prao Reservoir and the road around Koh Chang in Trat Province. It also features a seminar titled “The Route to Security on Koh Kut along the Border,” with Mr. Pisut Rattanawong, Chair of the Eastern Region People's Senate Project Steering Committee, and Navy Captain Rungroj Intra, senator.
