At 1:00 p.m. on 18 Sep 2026 GMT+7, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul was interviewed about discussions with ministers regarding adjustments after six months in office. He said they talk regularly every week. When asked if there would be formal talks, he replied that he personally speaks with ministers weekly. Concerning whether any minister has suggested adjustments during the past six months, the Prime Minister said he encourages all ministers to work fully, ensuring their efforts are tangible, concrete, and beneficial.
Regarding meals with the Cabinet, there is a plan to arrange a meeting with coalition partners. Previously, the Prime Minister said he had urgent duties requiring travel abroad. Yesterday (17 Sep), he spoke with Chulaphan Amornwiwat, Minister of Labour and leader of the Pheu Thai Party, and Suriya Juangroongruangkit, Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, with plans to dine together, though the date has not yet been set.
“Meals are not important. If there’s time, we eat together; if not, we constantly consult by phone. I don’t need to talk to every minister. Within the coalition, I have contact channels with both Chulaphan and Yotsanan Wongsawat, and the person I am familiar with and respect, Suriya, which suffices for coalition discussions. There have never been any problems,” the Prime Minister said, adding that continuous phone conversations maintain coordination.
Asked if he is preparing for an opposition no-confidence motion, the Prime Minister said he cannot predict but must be ready to respond on all matters. If actions are done without dishonest intent, every government decision and operation since taking office has been based on the country's and people's benefit with honest intent. There is no indication that any action favors any individual.
He said he has worked this way since serving as Minister of Public Health and has faced challenges every term, yet consistently received the highest trust votes. He must be ready to explain when accused or questioned and respond accordingly.
When asked if he is confident he will survive another no-confidence debate, Anutin said he would only be worried if he intended to do wrong and thought he could escape detection. That would cause concern. But now, he is not worried because he will never do anything illegal and always acts for the benefit of the country and people. He follows just a few principles and does his work accordingly.
Earlier, he spoke with retiring permanent secretaries, who praised his work and the policies given to civil servants for implementation. Those officials, with only two weeks left before retirement, did not flatter to create a positive impression since they had no expectations.
Therefore, these individuals are honorable persons with significant responsibilities. Their praise that the government supports the missions of all agencies well makes him even more confident that this government benefits the country through civil servants enabling effective operations.
