Anutin Hints at Retired Permanent Secretaries Assisting Government, Confident in Their Readiness to Help the Nation

Anutin hints at bringing retired permanent secretaries to assist government work, acknowledging close familiarity and knowledge of their skills, confident they are ready to help the nation if called upon, smiling and showing a fist gesture with those from the same age group of 60.

At 1:00 p.m. on 18 September 2026, Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, spoke about the meeting of heads of government agencies at the permanent secretary level or equivalent, which invited civil servants retiring this year to continue working. Asked whether they would be invited to help after retirement, the Prime Minister said he might have to rely on everyone. Regarding meeting again in a different role, he explained that this is correct. All of them are people he is close to and familiar with, knows their skills, dedication, and ideas. If one day the nation needs help, he is confident that those individuals will be ready to assist without singling anyone out.

The Prime Minister also wished those retiring good luck, happiness, and good health. When a reporter teased that they share the same age of 60, Anutin said, "Same age group, I’m still okay," smiling and making a double fist gesture.
