Daeng Kongma and Somphan Palasak, two senators from Amnat Charoen, face tension after the Supreme Court's Election Case Division accepted a withdrawal petition filed by a reserve senator regarding improper professional group registration. The evidence inspection is set for 27 October 2026.
A reporter reported that on 17 September 2026, the Supreme Court's Election Case Division reviewed petition number Lot Sa Wo 10/2569, related documents, and the petitioner's list of witnesses on 9 September 2026. The court deemed it appropriate to schedule an evidence inspection on 27 October 2026 at 10:00 a.m., ordering the announcement of the date and time at the Supreme Court's front and via information technology media for public notification, considering the order duly read.
This stems from reserve senator Akkharawat Pongthanachalitkul filing a petition with the Supreme Court's Election Case Division to consider and issue an order under Section 44 of the Organic Act on the Election of Senators B.E. 2561 (2018).
1. To revoke the decisions of the Election Commission (respondent 1) numbered 249/2567 dated 23 December 2024, and 17/2568 dated 13 January 2025.
2. To rule that Daeng Kongma (respondent 2) and Somphan Palasak (respondent 3) lack qualifications or are ineligible to run as senators in group 10.
3. To order respondents 2 and 3 to be removed from the Senate positions and to revoke their rights to run for election according to the law.
4. To instruct the Election Commission, respondent 1, to file a complaint with the police to pursue criminal proceedings under Section 74 of the Organic Act on the Election of Senators against respondents 2 and 3.
Akkharawat cited the complaint concerns the improper registration of two Amnat Charoen senate candidates in the wrong professional group. Daeng Kongma and Somphan Palasak declared professions as fresh pork vendor and noodle seller. The petitioner stated these professions belong in group 19, which covers freelancers or vendors, but they were certified as senators in group 10, the other business operators category.
