The Prime Minister ordered "Worasit" to urgently fly to Narathiwat to visit Volunteer Defense Corps victims of the Sukhirin bombing and assured full support for their rights and compensation.
On 19 September 2026, Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, as Commander of the Volunteer Defense Corps, assigned Colonel Worasit Liangprasert, Deputy Minister of Interior and Deputy Commander of the Volunteer Defense Corps, to urgently travel to Narathiwat province. This was to monitor the situation following an attack where insurgents planted a bomb and ambushed a six-wheeled truck carrying Volunteer Defense Corps members from Sukhirin district while returning from the 2026 Narathiwat annual event. The attack resulted in two members killed and 16 injured. Colonel Boonchuay Homyamyen, Governor of Narathiwat, and other officials joined the site to closely oversee assistance efforts.
During the visit, Worasit received a briefing on the situation from security agencies, local administration, and medical teams. He urged immediate and full assistance to the families of the deceased concerning their rights, welfare, and compensation according to official regulations. He expressed deep sorrow over the loss and affirmed that the Ministry of Interior will not abandon personnel on duty or the families of those who sacrificed.
He then visited and presented gift baskets to encourage the 10 injured Volunteer Defense Corps members hospitalized at Su-ngai Kolok Hospital. Specialist doctors confirmed all are stable and out of danger. He emphasized that all agencies must collaborate to ensure strict safety measures and boost morale for personnel working in the area moving forward.
