Deputy Interior Minister Je Seth rushed to the landslide area at Ban Doi Tio and ordered the Disaster Prevention Department to scan risk points throughout Nan city while supporting funding for a temporary school building.
On 19 September 2026, Je Seth Thaiseth, Deputy Minister of Interior, accompanied by Chainarong Wongyai, Governor of Narathiwat Province, local executives, and related agencies, visited Ban Doi Tio School in Si Phum Subdistrict, Tha Wang Pha District, Nan Province. They assessed the impacts of land subsidence and cracks affecting the kindergarten building, cafeteria, cooperative store, and swimming pool. A drone was deployed to survey the affected area. The Governor of Nan Province issued an order to cordon off the risky area and strictly prohibit entry to the affected buildings since 15 September to ensure the safety of teachers and students.
Je Seth revealed progress on relief efforts, stating that the province coordinated with the Office of Basic Education to allocate a budget of 3.9 million baht to construct a temporary school building and renovate restrooms at the sports field of Si Phum Subdistrict Administrative Organization. The work is expected to be completed within 90 days. Meanwhile, teachers are providing on-hand learning by distributing assignments for students to complete at home until the semester ends on 10 October.
Additionally, coordination with the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society is underway to install NT internet signals, and discussions with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment are planned to secure land for a new permanent school in the long term. Furthermore, the Deputy Minister instructed Nan Province’s Disaster Prevention Department and the Department of Public Works and Town Planning to urgently scan landslide risk points, inspect building stability throughout the province, install early warning systems, conduct emergency drills, and coordinate with the Provincial Electricity Authority to urgently resolve power fluctuation issues in the area.
