Kaewta Criticizes Theng for Abandoning September 19, Cites Contradiction in Opposing Coup Yet Voting for Anutin as PM

Kaewta Thisana criticizes Natthapong Ruangpanyawut for abandoning the September 19 cause, recalling his verbal opposition to the coup but his vote for Anutin to become prime minister.

On 19 September 2026, Thisana Chunhawat, former Bangkok MP of the People's Party and now a member of the Pheu Thai Party, posted on social media in response to Natthapong Ruangpanyawut, leader of the People's Party. Natthapong had shared comments on the anniversary of the September 19 coup, warning against using the coup or the term democracy as mere moral decoration or a photo prop to create a polished image. Thisana pointed out that this contradicts the real political behavior of 143 People's Party MPs who once voted to support Anutin Charnvirakul as prime minister on 7 September 2025, despite having publicly declared opposition to the continuation of power and authoritarianism.

Thisana also criticized the People's Party's "14th floor" movement, which was central in debates attacking the government of Paethongtarn Shinawatra and led to Thaksin Shinawatra's return to prison. She described it as insincere politics that talks one way but winks the other, invoking Karl Marx's teachings to illustrate that the legacy of the old regime survives because those claiming to be new are actually extending the old political system. She urged the People's Party to stop using the coup anniversary to project moral superiority in democracy, emphasizing that what the public should consider is who they chose to support when they held real power.
