Worachai Calls to End the Endless Vendetta Against the Shinawatra Family

Worachai calls to end the relentless vendetta against the Shinawatra family after Thaksin filed a lawsuit with the Central Tax Court to prevent the Revenue Department from seizing assets, explaining that stock trading on the stock exchange was not subject to taxation like others.

On 20 Sep 2026 GMT+7, Worachai Hema, former Pheu Thai MP for Samut Prakan, spoke regarding Thaksin Shinawatra's lawyer filing a lawsuit with the Central Tax Court seeking a temporary injunction to prevent the Revenue Department from continuing to seize and confiscate Thaksin's assets to settle tax debts related to the sale of shares in Shin Corporation Public Company Limited. He explained that at the time of Thaksin’s sale of Shin Corp shares, stock trading on the stock exchange was not subject to taxation, and neither individuals nor companies were required to pay tax. However, after the coup that ousted Thaksin, his assets from the sale of Shin Corp shares were seized, meaning his income from the sale, totaling 46 billion baht, had already been confiscated. Worachai expressed confusion as to how tax could be calculated again when the income had already been seized. He said the incident shows the Shinawatra family has been continually targeted, including both former Prime Ministers Thaksin and Yingluck Shinawatra, who are currently undergoing asset seizures. He views these actions as an endless political vendetta against the Shinawatra family, despite the existence of the Peaceful Resolution Act aimed at national reconciliation and peace. He urged an end to this never-ending vendetta.
