The government announced that the "Thai Chuey Thai Plus" program's spending has exceeded 161.5 billion baht, helping to sustain purchasing power and channel income to merchants. The Ministry of Finance plans to present a proposal to the Cabinet on Tuesday, 22 Sep 2026 GMT+7, to extend the program's duration.
On 20 Sep 2026 GMT+7, Ms. Lalida Pertwivatana, Deputy Spokesperson of the Prime Minister's Office, revealed the progress of the "Thai Chuey Thai Plus" (60/40) program. As of 18 Sep 2026 GMT+7 at 23:00, total accumulated spending reached 161,555.6 million baht, with 26,040,623 beneficiaries and 1,192,528 merchants verified. This reflects ongoing circulation of funds from the measure to people, merchants, and businesses amid pressures from energy prices and living costs.
The accumulated spending of 161,555.6 million baht consists of 92,900.7 million baht co-funded by the government and 68,654.9 million baht contributed by the public. Spending occurred through regular stores totaling 155,335.8 million baht and Food Delivery services totaling 6,219.8 million baht.
The Deputy Spokesperson of the Prime Minister's Office stated that the key point of the Thai Chuey Thai Plus program is not only reducing citizens' expenses but also its co-payment mechanism that combines government funds with public purchasing power. This supports income for merchants, small businesses, and the service sector, helping to circulate money within the economy during a period of rising energy costs and living expenses.
"Spending exceeding 161.5 billion baht reflects that assistance is directed toward daily goods and services. Meanwhile, the public's contribution of over 68.6 billion baht enables government funds to leverage greater purchasing power and merchant income. Thus, this measure both eases citizens' burdens and helps sustain grassroots economic activities," said Ms. Lalida.
The global economy continues to face pressure from energy prices. Fitch Ratings has assessed that rising oil prices impact inflation, purchasing power, and business costs. Meanwhile, Thailand's economy remains supported by consumption and government measures, which help sustain economic activities amid global economic volatility.
"The government prioritizes measures that directly assist citizens and stimulate real economic activities. Thai Chuey Thai Plus addresses both by reducing citizens' living costs and supporting business incomes. The spending data reflect tangible circulation of purchasing power into the grassroots economy," the Deputy Spokesperson of the Prime Minister's Office added.
Regarding the program's next phase, the Ministry of Finance is preparing to present performance results and related details to the Cabinet for consideration on Tuesday, 22 Sep 2026 GMT+7. Any extension of duration, budget, entitlements, or conditions must comply with Cabinet resolutions. The government will officially inform the public promptly and advises citizens to follow official channels and avoid believing messages claiming that the program's next phase has been approved before Cabinet decisions.
Under the current phase, eligible individuals can use their benefits following the criteria until 30 Sep 2026 GMT+7. The government co-pays 60% up to 200 baht per person per day and no more than 1,000 baht per person per month. Remaining monthly entitlements cannot be carried over to the next month.
