Thanakorn counters Natthapong: Don't generalize 21 million votes as support for People's Party's constitutional amendment approach; points out people's power proven through recent election results; supports Anutin and Bhumjaithai's landslide victory.
On 20 Sep 2026, Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana, party-list MP of Bhumjaithai and former Minister of Industry, commented on Natthapong Ruangpanyawut, party-list MP and leader of the People's Party, who posted on Facebook that the people's voice expressed in the 2023 election, although Move Forward Party did not lead the government, ended the power hold of parties supporting the coup. Thanakorn said he does not want Natthapong to interpret the public's voice in a self-serving way. The voters were initially convinced by campaign promises to change politics and improve people's lives. However, in reality, parliamentary work focused on amending the entire constitution, while addressing people's hardships was postponed. Outside parliament, efforts to inform the public were lacking, focusing mainly on securing bail for protest leaders. Now, the public has realized the truth, as reflected in the recent overwhelming victory of Bhumjaithai in the election.
Regarding Natthapong's call for 21 million voters to unite in stopping the 'Blue Regime' from further seizing state power and to create a new constitution truly granting supreme power to the people, Thanakorn stated that the cited 21 million votes represent citizens wanting constitutional amendments, not necessarily agreement with Natthapong or the People's Party. He urged against generalization. Supreme power already belongs to the people, expressed through recent elections. Under Anutin Charnvirakul's leadership, Bhumjaithai's policies satisfy the public, with a 'say and do' approach, earning trust and 192 seats in the 8 Feb election.
"The country now faces an economic crisis. I urge Natthapong to stop daily rhetoric. As opposition leader, he should reasonably scrutinize the government through parliamentary mechanisms, not lead protests or incite public demonstrations on the streets. The government is committed to successfully implementing all policies according to the expectations of the people who elected us," Thanakorn said.
