Chulapan is concerned about flooding in Phang Nga and has instructed the Ministry of Labour spokesperson to coordinate with the province's five leading labour officials to urgently assist the public in all ministry-related tasks, ensuring they receive entitled benefits promptly.
On 21 Sep 2026 GMT+7, Phipat Chai Paiboon, the Ministry of Labour spokesperson (political section), revealed that Minister Chulapan Amornwiwat is deeply concerned for the people and workers affected by flooding in Phang Nga province. Currently, the minister is on a mission in the People's Republic of China to attend the 8th APEC Human Resources Development Ministerial Meeting (HRDMM). He has therefore ordered the spokesperson to closely monitor the situation locally and coordinate ministry agencies to prepare assistance and relief for the public once the situation improves.
Phipat stated that upon receiving the directive, he coordinated with the five key labour officials in Phang Nga to urgently assess the impact and prepare assistance across all ministry-related areas—employment, labour protection, skill development, and social security benefits—especially facilitating affected insured persons’ quick and equitable access to their entitlements.
He also coordinated with the Department of Employment to survey and compile available job vacancies locally as an additional support channel for affected people and workers seeking employment. Initial findings show 127 job openings in Takua Pa and Kapong districts of Phang Nga. Local agencies are tasked with facilitating appropriate job matching to help affected individuals quickly regain employment and income.
Simultaneously, coordination with the Department of Skill Development is underway to prepare staff and skilled technicians to assist after floodwaters recede, including inspecting and repairing electrical appliances and home wiring. This aims to alleviate difficulties and help residents return to normal daily life swiftly. Sergeant Major Prayong Boonchuay, inspector general of the department, is collaborating locally with related agencies to coordinate these efforts.
“The minister sends his concern to all Phang Nga residents and workers and has instructed all Ministry of Labour agencies to provide full assistance. If anyone experiences hardship related to the ministry’s responsibilities, they can immediately contact local agencies. The five leading labour officials in Phang Nga are now fully prepared to assist the public,” Phipat said.
