“Panpree” held discussions with Australian government representatives, revealing Deal Team survey results that highlight Thailand as a high-potential target area, preparing to bring major investments in green energy, agricultural technology, and data centers.
On 21 September 2026 in Sydney, Australia, Mr. Panpree Pahittanugorn and Mr. Panidol Patchimsawat, Deputy Directors-General of the Department of Information at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, met with Mr. Christopher Moore, Australian government representative responsible for investment in Southeast Asia. After the meeting, Panpree stated that the talks marked a positive sign for concretely elevating economic and trade cooperation between Thailand and Australia.
Panpree disclosed that Christopher Moore was assigned to drive Australia's investment strategy in Southeast Asia, focusing on expanding economic opportunities in the region with a long-term plan through 2040. Australia's Deal Team conducted surveys and identified Thailand as one of the high-potential target countries. Among sectors of interest, agricultural technology ranks highest, aligning with Thai priorities.
Regarding green energy, Australia is interested in developing clean and sustainable energy and large-scale data centers, as well as promoting collaboration in workforce development. Additionally, Australia has a large investment fund (Superannuation Fund) ready to support and assist business groups investing in Thailand and the region under specified conditions.
Concerning Thailand’s readiness, Panpree confirmed that the country is fully prepared to accommodate investments. Currently, close cooperation exists among the Board of Investment (BOI), Thai financial institutions, and the private sector. He believes that regular discussions and meetings will greatly boost trade and investment values between the two countries.
Panpree emphasized that 2025 will mark the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Australia. The Australian Prime Minister is scheduled to officially visit Thailand, accompanied by senior and mid-level business delegations, to strengthen relations and expand business opportunities.
