The Election Commission urges Nonthaburi residents who missed voting in the Nonthaburi Provincial Administrative Organization presidential election on 20 Sep to report their reasons from today until 27 Sep 2026. It warns that failure to report may result in political rights restrictions.
On 21 Sep 2026, the Office of the Election Commission announced that those who did not vote in the Nonthaburi Provincial Administrative Organization presidential election held on Sunday, 20 Sep 2026, may report their reasons for absence from 21 to 27 Sep 2026. Reports can be submitted via the Smart Vote application or the website www.ect.go.th, or through the Ministry of Interior's registration office website at https://boraservices.bora.dopa.go.th/election/abscauselocal/. Additionally, individuals may report in person or authorize someone else to submit on their behalf to the district registrar or local registrar at the municipal office, or send registered mail to the district or local registrar. Acceptable reasons include being occupied in another area, illness, disability, old age, traveling abroad, residing more than 100 km from the polling station, official orders requiring work duties, or other unavoidable circumstances.
However, if eligible voters neither participate in the election nor report a valid reason for their absence, or if their reasons are deemed invalid, they will face restrictions on their political rights as follows.
1. Being eligible to run for Member of the House of Representatives (MP), local council member, local executive, or Member of the Senate.
2. Being eligible to run for village headman or subdistrict headman positions.
3. Joining in petitions to remove local council members or local executives from office.
4. Holding political government officer positions and political parliamentary official roles.
5. Holding positions such as deputy local executive, secretary to local executives, assistant secretary to local executives, chief advisor to local executives, advisor to local executives, or member of the advisory board to local executives.
6. Holding positions of secretary to the chairman of the local council, assistant secretary to the chairman of the local council, and secretary to the deputy chairman of the local council.
These political rights restrictions last for two years, counted from the date of the election in which the voter did not participate.
