At 09:00 on 22 Sep 2026 GMT+7, Attakorn Sirilattayakorn, MP for Chachoengsao and Kla Tham Party spokesperson, commented on reports that Parit Watcharasindhu, party-list MP, deputy leader of the People’s Party, and opposition whip chief, is considering removing Kla Tham from the opposition whip after disagreements over the 2027 fiscal year budget bill vote. He said Kla Tham understands that the authority to decide the whip’s composition lies with the opposition whip chief and respects that process.
Attakorn added that Kla Tham members have worked straightforwardly with the opposition whip despite some differences. The party has cooperated with the opposition throughout. Kla Tham’s position is to address public problems through parliamentary processes, maintaining its independence, and voting each time based on content and the impact on the country and people.
Regarding the vote on the 2027 fiscal year budget bill, Attakorn said the key issue is not how Kla Tham voted but the consequences if the budget law faces problems that prevent timely enforcement. This would affect public administration and fund allocation for addressing citizen needs, especially amid ongoing economic challenges requiring government action.
After the budget vote, the opposition whip chief expressed concern, leading to discussions about opposition work and the quota for live questions. Kla Tham is willing to waive its right to ask live questions to avoid scheduling conflicts and facilitate cooperation.
Asked about Kla Tham’s status amid these circumstances, Attakorn said the party has its own principles and working approach. Its members have continuously attended opposition whip meetings and cooperated with opposition work, but Kla Tham’s decisions are based on the impact on the country rather than political calculations about which side the party aligns with.
"Kla Tham MPs will continue their role as representatives of the people, regardless of which side they belong to. We will keep pushing to solve public problems through parliamentary mechanisms," Attakorn said.
